Semi-formal walnut coffee table

The clients own and love a collection of both contemporary mid-century pieces in rosewood as well as more classical antique pieces in a range of dark woods. The brief was to design a large coffee table which would fit its classical Georgian townhouse setting and be complementary to the pre-existing pieces that it would share the space with.

This stunning American Walnut Cluster veneer, with areas of flowing walnut grain amid clusters of burr and pippy figuring, was chosen for the table top for its warm and deep colouring and to provide a good dose of ‘drama’ to an overall design that is deliberately simple. Solid French walnut joinery completes the base, with hand shaped legs showing off a slight flare towards the top, giving a nod to both classical and mid-century styling.
