Mid-Century Modern Gio Ponti inspired dining table
L 1.9m x W 0.9m x H 0.75m
A six-seater glass-topped dining table for a stylish West London apartment, inspired by the work of Gio Ponti and classic mid-century furniture.
The client wanted a dining table which would be at home amongst her carefully assembled and curated collection of decorative objects and furniture pieces. Mid-century styling, walnut wood and brass and gold metal tones appeared in a few of her existing items, so were natural choices. The open table frame and glass top were designed to provide a decent sized table without overly dominating the open-plan lounge/dining space.
Lovely American walnut grain, sculpted joints and solid brass turned feet give a nod to MCM design, whilst the brass pin details in the main bridle joints perform both aesthetic and structural roles.
The table base is shown here without its low-iron glass top for clarity of images.
